Life.
well, that's the theme/ concept of my final assignment for digital imaging - photo manipulation :)
at first this assignment is like dying.. cos i have no time to even touch it..
just so you know.. it's 30% altogether and we have to produce 3 pieces of 'em
and we have like two weeks or so to do this. WITH 4 more other major assignments to gao dim.
which 2 of them need to be submitted on wednesday and 3 of them (including this one) on thursday.
so that's why i said this assignment is dying..
that time, (which is like three days ago) i've already prepared myself to let this 30% fly,
cos i've not slept for 1 week+ and seriously have no time and no mood to start it.
but then after we submitted two other final assignments on wednesday,
and the two other assignments that need to be submitted on thursday are like 7788 done,
i decided to give this assignment a go.
i found some usable photos from my last semester's folder,
searched google and youtube for photo manipulation tutorials and i started abruptly.
come to think of it.. it's like a miracle cos my hands and brain just automatically tell each other
what to do and how.. and they just functioned well.. i dont even know what am i doing.. my hands just continue to do and do, and my eyes are already blurred, seriously lack of sleep; and i cannot even think of how to combine those things together and manipulate them, but i just did it.
(laughs) the first and second piece were disastrous so i decided not to post them (they didn't match my standard :P) but i kinda like the third piece. it matches my theme pretty well. so here is it, the final output:
a sneak peek at the photos used:
1. human manikin |
2. bokeh effect background: i made it myself :) |
so why the theme "Life"?
lemme explain from the picture.
at first, of course, the human manikin represents everyone, all human out there, and "it" is obviously climbing on a staircase. The staircase is placed as such so that it gives an illusion that it has no end to it. in life, we are all climbing a never ending staircase, and everyone have to strive to move on. to climb up is like 1000 times harder than to fall down, and none of us want to experience falling down, so we just keep climbing and climbing and climbing......
but have you ever stop a step to look around? do you remember how you managed to climb this far? who helped you? how? why? when? that is why i chose the chocolate bar as the staircase. it brings meaning that though life is hard and tough, it can still be as sweet as chocolate. which is also why i put the colorful bokeh picture as background to represent the wonderful scenery, memories and bits and pieces that one should remember while taking the journey called Life. the black and white splashes signifies the good and bad memories that we cannot avoid. while moving on, cherish the happenings with a grateful heart. everything happen for a reason. let it be to what has happened because time cannot be reversed. if u try to look down/ look back, you might lose balance and fall down the staircase.
never live in the past because it brings you nowhere. look forward and around to enjoy the scenery. you never know what you have missed or what you are going to miss if you are too afraid to look around while climbing or if you dont dare to keep on climbing. keep moving on with a smile. look at the beautiful sky and the lovely trees around you when you are tired. (p/s. personal interest: i super love to look at the sky once in a while because i think the sky is the most beautiful creation of God ;D) just follow your heart and most importantly let the Lord guide you so that you will never be wrong :)
that's what i did that whole night. climbed three steps. carried a little faith to finish those 3 pieces. everything was done at 7.58am sharp. still have some time to sleep before printing shop opens! :D #immahappygirl!thankyouLord!loveyou!
so in the end, everything was submitted and presented on time. reached home at around 5pm something, exhausted but excited cos i actually made it! really nothing is impossible in the hands of God! :)
more updates coming soon, after i finished my 2 papers :)
